Our Little Clover is 10 Months Old!

Lucy is such a little sweetheart. She loves to snuggle and give kisses, of course we just love it too! She is doing great on her new eating regimen. She loves her sippy cup with milk and she'll actually guzzle it now. She's eating all kinds of things, basically whatever we eat along with yogurt. A good box of crackers can keep her entertained for hours, which is helpful when I want to shop! She loves dancing and clapping. Whenever she hears music she bounces to the rhythm. She has discovered how to wave and how to move her arms back and forth. She is crawling all over the place. The stairs are her favorite if she can get there before I grab her. She is standing up on everything and getting sturdier by the second. On any normal morning you can find her standing at her toy basket taking out all her toys. She loves when we 'get her'. We crawl towards her and she goes crazy, it might be the cutest thing ever. She is a very good sleeper, she takes two good naps a day and sleeps 12 hours a night. This little girl brings a smile to our face every time we look at her!

I Was Crooked but Now I'm Straight

About a week ago I woke up with some back pain. It got a little better then it got a lot worse. It was very painful to pick up Lucy and I could barely walk. When Lucy would crawl to the stairs I would just want to cry because I knew I had to go and get her. My back was giving up on me. And then, I was crooked. Instead of my torso being centered on my body it was leaning to the left. It was very weird to look at myself in the mirror and see my body out of alignment. I went to the Doctor and he did some tests and took some Xrays. He said I have scoliosis, but obviously my spine was crooked but it isn't always like that. So, he didn't really have any answers for me. I went to a chiropractor who calls me the 'leaning tower' and he helped me a lot. He told me that when your back is hurt it will try to pull away from the problem. He sees a lot of moms that have the same problem as me and it is most likely from picking up their kids on the same side all the time. I need to try to use both sides. My great friend Natalie gave me two deep tissue massages and she was able to really get in there and help with the problem. I got cracked, stretched and rubbed and I'm finally feeling almost back to normal! This week was one of the hardest weeks I've had because I had to care for Lucy but my body was physically telling me 'no'. I felt very hopeless and depressed, I can't be the mom I want to be when my body is letting me down. This is a time that I'm so GRATEFUL for my AMAZING friends & family. My mom drove 10 hours here to keep me company and help me. My husband has taken care of Lucy while also taking care of me. My friends have watched Lucy, brought us meals and checked on me constantly. I cannot express how truly amazing it is for me to know that when I'm having tough times there will always be people in my life that are willing to drop everything to help me. I am so very lucky.

Lucy's 9 Month Check-Up

Lucy had her 9 month check-up and we were very surprised at the outcome. Here are her stats:

Weight: 16.8 lbs - 11%
Height: 29 inches - 90%
Head: 2%

We were totally unaware that we had a little skinny baby on our hands, well I mean we knew she was thin but we didn't know she was THAT skinny- like underweight. We always knew she was tall with a small head- just like her mom...lol. Our pediatrician wasn't dramatic about it he just gave suggestions on how we can beef our little one up. He was saying that at this age it is hard to nurse because they get easily distracted and don't always get a full feeding, which is very very true for Lucy and I. I'm going to continue to nurse her four times a day, but we are also introducing her to cows milk. Most pediatricians recommend starting babies at 12 months, but we've been giving her yogurt for a month and she hasn't had a bad reaction so he thought milk would be a great option for her. Since she won't take a bottle we offered the cows milk in a sippy cup. She had a good reaction to it but she hasn't really taken to it as of yet, I'm assuming because I'm still nursing her. We are also giving her breakfast, lunch and dinner in addition. We give her foods like yogurt, cheese, milk and meat instead of the more high fat foods. I think she'll gain weight quickly on our new regimen. It is crazy how our whole life is centered around a little being. I am thankful every second of every day for Lucy, she truly makes our life whole.
