Our Little Vacation

A couple weeks ago we were able to take a few days off work and head to Midway to stay in my Uncle's timeshare. It was so nice to get away and relax, we definitely needed it. We barbecued, slept, shopped and went swimming. There isn't much to do in Midway, but we had a wonderful and peaceful time all the same!

The Big 2-2

Lucy Francis is 22 months old. She is such a little firecracker. She definitely thinks she is the boss around here, so we are trying to start some disciplining with her. We started doing the 'time out' thing and it works pretty well. She most definitely hates it. She is a pretty amazing tantrum thrower. I hope that girls are just more dramatic than boys and she isn't abnormally naughty, but when she gets mad or frustrated she will throw herself on the ground and cry. This happens frequently throughout the day and we try to ignore her. I try not to play into it by leaving the room. She calms down quickly and will run over when she is done crying. I hope she grows out of this soon! She is such a talker. She says between 3 and 4 word sentences. She usually says stuff like, 'Mommy, I want meat' or 'I want Daddy, where's Daddy?', 'Mommy, up please'. Her newest phrases are 'I'm sleeping' (and she pretends to be asleep), 'no biting kitties' and 'NOOOOOO!!' (while throwing her sassy little hand up). She still eats like a bird and gets most of her calories from milk. But, she does love to eat fruit (strawberries, apple, honeydew, grapes), olives, pretzels, cheerios and cheese. Lucy loves to dance, it's pretty dang cute. In the car we turn up the radio and boogey down. Her favorite songs are 'the Wheels on the Bus', 'Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam' and the 'ABC' song. She is such a reader. I grew up reading a ton and I was hoping to pass that on to her and she has totally caught the reading bug. Books are the one item in our home I feel we can't get enough of. She loves reading and even in my busiest moment I try to make time to read to her. Lucy LOVES babies. She has a variety of baby dolls and accessories..a car seat, blankets and bottles. She loves dressing and undressing her babies as well as feeding and putting them to sleep. Real babies are heaven to her. We call her a 'baby stalker' because if there is a baby in a one mile radius she is trying to hold and love on them. I'm excited for baby Eli to be here and for Lucy to be a big sister. She is going to be an amazing helper. We just love this little girl and are grateful for each second with her.
