Lucy & Eli are growing up so fast. I just want time to slow down. Here's an update on these turkeys:
Lucy has been sassy from the moment she was born. She is rebellious, strong willed, charming and funny. She can talk herself out of anything. It doesn't matter what I say, she has to answer, "yeah, but....". She loves to be the center of attention. She loves dancing and singing for anyone who will watch. We put her in soccer this past fall and she didn't quite get into it. She mostly laid on the field and picked flowers. During one game, she ran her little heart out and almost made a goal. It was short lived, but we were so proud. Lucy does everything on her own time and we can't rush her. As rebellious as she is, she has a very soft side too. She loves saying, "I love you" and it melts my heart when she says, "mommy, you're my best friend". She loves snuggling and still wants to be held a lot. She torments Eli, as any sibling would, but she is also fiercely protective of him. She always makes sure he gets whatever she gets. She makes sure Eli is taken care of. She is such a good big sister. She is super tall, but still a skinny little thing. She eats anything, but in small amounts. She especially loves to eat fruit and veggies. She doesn't really like chicken nuggets or pizza, but she eats sushi like nobodies business. Lucy is a talking machine, she will talk your ear off. She has a really good sense of humor and makes us laugh everyday. She is so social and loves people. She will talk to total strangers like they're her best friend. She is so much like me and we butt heads a lot, but I love her madly.
Eli is our little sweetheart. He is a wild man, but he is also very shy and reserved. Eli loves getting out our pots and pans and finding trouble. I'll turn around and one minute later he's upstairs playing in daddy's office. Eli started walking (running) around 14 months old and never stopped. His little run is adorable. Eli really likes routine. He loves taking his shoes out of the closet and putting them on. If I ask Lucy to get her shoes out, Eli will go to the closet and get them for her. Same with his coat. He will do anything if it means he's going outside. He still loves his binkie, his 'dee-dee' and often needs more than one. We are working towards weening him to having it only at night, but he has been teething so bad so we haven't done it yet. He loves having a blankie, as well. Eli has the most delicious smile, laugh and cheeks you've ever seen. Lucy loves making him laugh. This guy is an eating machine. He will eat ANYTHING. He has a deep love for food, just like his mom! It is so nice to have a kid that likes to eat! Eli is a daddy's boy (at this point in his life). When he hears the garage open he gets so excited. He loves calling daddy at work and hearing his voice. He is very shy and clingy. He doesn't let very many people hold him. He gets very nervous if we try to leave him and there are very few people that we can leave him with. Eli is a late talker. He has been working with a speech pathologist & it has helped so much. We started baby signs with Eli and it has been helpful. He has started talking a little bit and says, 'bye-bye', please, more, kitty, yeah and ma. It has been so fun watching Eli progress and no one is a bigger cheerleader for Eli than Lucy.
We feel truly blessed to have these little angels in our lives. Holding these two is like pure heaven.
