Our friends Brian, Becka & baby Wesley came to visit us from California last week. Lucy & I were trying to get over being sick but we didn't let that ruin our time. We had so much fun hanging out, shopping, eating out and playing games. Scott was transitioning into his new job so he had to work a lot so we didn't see him a ton, but we definitely made the most of our time together. Kendra,Caleb & baby Porter were able to hang out with us most of the time and we were also able to see Katie. Becka, Katie, Kendra and I know each-other from home so it's a blast when we all can be together. Now that we all have kids it's a lot different but in a very wonderful way! Thanks for visiting guys, we miss you already!
Lucy girl is 9 months old, I can't believe it! She is a very busy girl now, crawling everywhere. She loves to pull herself up on everything: our legs, couch, coffee table and stairs. You can tell by the pictures below that she is quite mischievous already. She loves eating basically anything we eat. Her favorites are bread, puffs, pears and bananas. She has two teeth on the bottom and loves showing them off. She has a great sense of humor and she loves to laugh. She is a good sleeper, she goes to sleep at 8:30 and wakes up around 8am. She gets so excited to hear her Daddy on the phone and when he gets home from work. She is in love with the cats, if she is crying showing her a cat will get her to stop. She loves petting them and we are trying to teach her how to be gentle with them because she ends up with two fists full of fur! Everyday is an adventure with our Lucy girl and we are loving life with her.
Thank you to KATIE for these AWESOME pictures!! Lucy just hasn't been able to stay well this winter, this is her with a nebulizer to help her breathe easier.
For Valentine's Day Scott didn't have to work so we took Lucy to the Aquarium, she loved it! She looked at all the fish and tried to touch them. We couldn't resist stopping off at the gift shop and letting Lucy pick out a stuffed animal. She picked a round, furry penguin. Scott got me some beautiful flowers and we topped off our day with See's candy. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone we love! We are so grateful for the wonderful friends & family in our lives.
A while ago Kendra & I took our good friend Katie out for her birthday. We've been friends for over 7 years. Katie & I moved to Utah together from California 5 years ago. Katie & I have nicknames for each-other, it is 'Woobie'. We've been calling each-other that for ever and Scott is so used to it that whenever I refer to her as 'Katie' he says who? And then I say 'Woobie' and he's like ohhhh. It has been awesome being friends with these girls from our single days to married with kids. It has been quite an adventure being friends with these gals and I just love them so much!
Lucy started crawling a few days ago. It is amazing for us to watch her, she is such a big girl now! She can't crawl long distances and sometimes gets flustered if she wants something badly and she can't get there fast enough. She has also starting doing what we call a 'cheeser' face, she scrunches her whole face and breathes in and out through her nose really fast. It is hilarious! We ADORE our little peanut.
About a month ago I watched a TV show called 'extreme couponers'. I loved it and wanted to know how to become a 'couponer'. My good friend Marye knew someone who teaches classes and last week she came and taught a class at my house. I am hooked! I haven't even got any newspapers yet (that is where you get a majority of coupons) but Kendra let me have hers from Sunday and I printed some online. It was very easy, it just takes a little planning and I thought I would try it out today. Scott and I have a $50 a week budget for groceries, some people think that is low but it has been fine for us. Well, today we started off to Smith's, list and coupons in hand. Scott wasn't totally convinced until we checked out. Our bill went from $53.21 to $18.93 with coupons and in-store deals. Then, we went to Wal-Mart to get the remaining groceries we needed and did a little price matching there. We got double the amount of groceries we usually get for our $50. I think we did pretty good for not having our coupons yet and for being my first try. I'm a very organized person so I think this will be a fun hobby for me and I LOVE getting a good deal, who doesn't? It definitely wasn't as hard or time consuming as I thought it would be, just a little extra planning.
A couple weeks ago my husband shaved his head- completely bald. It was for a good cause though, it was in support of our good friend Dave who is battling two rare diseases, symptoms similar to cancer. We met the Welsh's 2 years ago, Caroline has been my visiting teacher and Scott their home teacher ever since. They are amazing people and have been our close friends. We sure do LOVE the Welsh's and pray for them everyday, you should too. When Lucy first saw her bald daddy he had a hat on, she hated the hat! She liked him a lot better hat off, bald head and all! I was expecting the worst, but I have to admit I kind of liked it!
My Mom was visitng this same time, Lucy really took to her Grandma. We were both very sad to see her go.
